Did Panama Just Have an Earthquake?

Sometimes, moments after I read and digest it, there’s a headline that has an ominous quality about it. When I read about the leak of material from the Panamanian law firm Massack Fonseca, I sensed a socio-seismic event that could send shockwaves through the upper crust of the globe. There is so much material here—much it in a web of phony corporations and cutouts–that it will take weeks and months for all of it to come out. There are already hundreds of journalists working on the story, and there can be no doubt that it will include more big, big names. This gradual flow of facts might be for the best: there is so much pure Truth here that, like light or oxygen, we can’t take the high concentration all at once.
[pullquote align=”full” cite=”” link=”” color=”” class=”” size=””]Be prepared for the possibility that the impact of this headline might build like a tsunami, great banks of waves formed by this quake, triggered by the fission of a quantum mass of Truth: sent to cross oceans and break on great capitals around the world. At the epicenter are these truth spreaders: they don’t speak the Truth: they set it free to speak for itself.[/pullquote]
But the reason it strikes me as ominous is because it threatens systems that have been in place for so long, systems that proliferate power and privilege–especially in the last few decades: systems that widened the gap between classes and tightened the grip on the masses (rhyme condoned) until the proportions are reminiscent of the peaks of privilege just before revolutions in France, Russia or China.

Even though Julian Assange and Edward Snowden were reviled by the very powerful for revealing their dirty secrets, they are modern heroes in exile.  And the people who managed to leak information–from only one firm–that could reveal secret money flows to and from the most powerful people in the world: information that has the potency to shake up whole systems of government if it generates enough of a hue and cry–these people are heroes. Truth, it would seem, is a contagion more powerful than a biblical plague when it spreads on behalf of justice.

Be prepared for a possibility: that the impact of this headline might build like a tsunami, great banks of waves formed by this quake, triggered by the fission of a quantum mass of Truth: set out to cross oceans and break on great capitals around the world. At the epicenter are these truth spreaders: they don’t speak the Truth: they set it free to speak for itself.
